Chef Atli grew up in the eastern part of Iceland in a small town called Egilsstaðir. When he turned 18 years old he got a job at a local restaurant, being around the hustle and bustle of the kitchen he realized he wanted to become a chef. He moved to Reykjavik to pursue his mission and he enrolled into the culinary school called Hotel and Veitingaskoli. He graduated with honors and is working at Grillid Restaurant, Reykjavik, Iceland.

Chef Atli was an assistant to chef Thrainn Freyr Vigfusson at the 2010 Bocuse d'Or held in Lyon, France.

Chef Atli has also trained with Chef Agnar Sverrisson at Restaurant Texture, London, UK.

He wouldn't want to be doing anything else and loves the challenge of creating new dishes with different ingredients and using new culinary practices. Today you can find him at Grillid, so if you're in Reykjavik, Iceland stop by and experience his culinary delights.
