From his days as a young boy, David Whitmore has been interested in the sights, smells, and tastes of the kitchen. Descending from a lineage of Sicilian/Italian Americans who lived near the French Quarter, David watched and learned family recipes that are incorporated in his daily menu, These memories led him to pursue a career in the culinary world. Starting as a dishwasher in a locally owned restaurant, David began to take interest in developing his ideas. Over 20 years of restaurant experience eventually led to his purchase of Mimi's Restaurant in River Ridge in 2002. Buying a 25 year old restaurant is full of surprises, but David and his staff were able to build on the foundation. Working closely with local food purveyors and fresh ingredients, Mimi's was named among the top 1000 Italian Restaurants in America by Zagat, top 25 Creole Italian Restaurants in New Orleans by the Times-Picayune (including one of the top restaurants for meatballs) and among the top restaurants in Jefferson Parish by local food critic Tom Fitzmorris. Daily specials change seasonally, and the wine list and cocktail specials are updated frequently. Currently, David and his wife An have continued to establish Mimi's as a mainstay in the New Orleans metro area
