Born and raised in New Orleans, Chef Duke has been in the restaurant business since he was thirteen years old. Starting out as a dishwasher, Duke climbed the culinary ladder and at eighteen, he enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America. Chef Duke is one of the few chef/owners who run everything in the business from the front of the house to the back. He has won many awards including: Top 40 under 40 business leaders (City Business), Chef of the Year 1999 ACF (New Orleans Chapter), 2004 Restaurateur of the Year (LRA), Best Executive Chef 2008 (City Business), Best Owner and Best Upscale Casual Restaurant 2009 (City Business). Chef Duke also formed the Chef Duke Foundation for Kids, and for the past seventeen years he has helped kids with both medical and financial difficulties. At Christmas he delivers toys to hospitalized children in the greater New Orleans area. Chef Duke is also a member of the board of directors for the Louisiana Restaurant Association, and a member of the French Quarter Business Association. Following hurricane Katrina, Chef Duke felt he needed to set an example for the recovery of New Orleans, so he reopened his restaurant within six weeks and encouraged fellow restaurateurs to do the same. For the past six years, he has had his own radio show with his brother Rock LoCicero called “DIG IN” on 1350 AM. The show is about what is going on in New Orleans. Chef Duke has dedicated himself to bringing his city back to the number one food city in the world.
