Efren has been cooking professionally for over 33 years. He began his career at a Connecticut country club, where he was inspired to further his culinary knowledge. From there he decided the kitchen was where he wanted to be. He attended the prestigious Johnson & Whales culinary school. After obtaining his degree, he spent the next 4 years cooking at the 4 Star French restaurant, Spencer's in Hartford, Connecticut. From there he left to work at a restaurant group called The Steak Club, where he assisted in opening 8 locations in the New England area. Having family in Long Island, he moved back to New York to open up Winner's Restaurant & Sports Bar in The Days Inn. He is now the Executive Chef of Main Street Cafe in Patchogue, New York where he puts his unique culinary stylings on a myriad of classical Italian and American fare. After 33 years in the culinary world, he is still excited about learning new styles of cooking and sharing his vast knowledge with others. But at home, his wife does the cooking!
