Michael Carrino is the chef and owner of Restaurant Passionné, one of New Jersey’s most celebrated restaurants recognized for its locally-grown seasonal fare and energetic French inspired cuisine. Dubbed by many a rising star in the culinary world, Chef Carrino has made multiple guest appearances on NBC’s Today Show, Good Day New York, CBS 2 Saturday Morning, Today in New York, LX New York, News 12 New Jersey and has been featured in The New York Times, Bon Appétit, New Jersey Monthly, The Star-Ledger, New York Post and Zagat Dinning Guide and more. He was also declared the winner of Food Network’s cooking competition “Chopped” on April 7, 2009. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Carrino was inducted into the prestigious society of wine gurus, chefs, hotel executives and restaurant owners, known as The Chaîne des Rotisseurs at the age of 28. Other career highlights include the distinguished honor of cooking for former Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, former Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher at the 400th anniversary of Jamestown in Williamsburg, VA. In May 2010, Chef Carrino was also invited for a second appearance to cook for members of the world famous James Beard Foundation in New York City. In commitment to his passion for locally sourced meats and produce, Chef Carrino spends much of his time outside of the kitchen working with farmers and breeders to procure the freshest and most sustainable products available within New Jersey. He is an active member of “Buy Fresh, Buy Local,” and is a supporter of the New Jersey Food Shed Alliance and “Jersey Fresh.” Chef lends his time and ability to charitable organizations including The Salvation Army, Toni’s Soup Kitchen at St. Luke’s Church (Montclair), St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital (Paterson) and the Vincent Care Kitchen at Vincent Methodist Church in his hometown of Nutley, NJ.
