At 15 Chef Phil landed a job at a hotel in W. Yorkshire, UK as a house keeper but he knew he wanted to work in the kitchen and he begged the chef to give him an opportunity. The chef gave in and Chef Phil started as a kitchen porter. He went to Dewsbury College to do an apprenticeship and during that time he met Chef Paul Bentley who asked him to work at his small but beautiful restaurant, which turned out to be a life changing experience. It was Chef Bentley who taught him to prepare everything from scratch. After working at a Fish Bistro he decided to do a bit of travleing in Spain and Italy. He then landed in Iceland and began working at Hotel Nordica. After 2 years at Nordica he moved on to hotel Nupur, a summer hotel in northwest part of Iceland. After the amazing experience running this hotel he went back to London, where he stayed for the next 4 years working as a sous chef at Anglesea Arms in Hammersmith, London. After London he returned to Iceland as a chef at Einar Ben Restaurant.
