The Chocolate Lady's resident chocolatier, Lee Perrotta, won the distinguished honor of New York Chocolatier at the 2008-2009 New York Chocolate Championship held at the New York Food Festival in Sayville, NY. Lee also appears regularly on television and has been featured in local and national publications including the Oyster Bay Guardian, the LI Press, Newsday, The New York Times and the Affluent Traveler.

Lee started her exciting journey as an art student traveling through the South of France, where she found herself unable to pay her cafe bill. She offered to wash dishes and soon began cooking and finally, training as a chef. This began the marriage of Lee's astonishing creativity and her love of food. That was 28 year ago.

In between, she worked in graphics, advertising and visual merchandising but it was her love of chocolate that brought her back to the kitchen. Lee began a manufacturing business in 1999, entitled RR Chocolate Inc. (short for Red Rock Chocolate), which combined art and chocolate. An invitation to display her 36 edible portraits and sculptures at the Walt Whitman Museum in 2007 led to her opening the Chocolate Lady in Oyster Bay in 2008. Lee continues to innovate and expand her reach to organizations, schools, towns and cities in the area, discussing the history of and displaying all things chocolate.

Lee believes that chocolate should make people feel good, happy and powerful so she infuses every batch with love and healing energy. With just one bite, you are magically transformed. Her chocolate is like none other; all others will pale in comparison.
