Chef Sigurdur Helgason began his career at The Pearl restaurant, Iceland in 1998. He is currently the head chef at the Grill restaurant, Iceland. He graduated from Hotel and Veitingaskoli, Reykjavik, Iceland with highest honours in 2001 and between 1999 – 2001 he worked for the presidents office of Iceland as a pre-vide chef assistant under strong guidance of Chef Sturla Birgisson.
After graduation Chef Sigurdur went to Luxembourg where he worked for six months at the Restaurant Lea Linster's which boasts a Michelin star. In 2004 he was the head chef at restaurant Skólabrú, Iceland until 2006. Between 2006 - 2010 Sigurður went overseas where he worked as a private chef in England, Ireland and New York. In 2010 Sigurður returned to the Grill restaurant and took over as head chef in 2011.
In 2004 – 2006 Sigurður worked with the Icelandic culinary team that won a prize at the Olympics in Germany, Scot Hot, Glasgow and Basel, Switzerland.
