Chef Siggi never intended to become a chef, he began to study forestry, but at an early age he landed a job at Hornid Restaurant in Reykjavik, Iceland and over time he realized he loved the restaurant life. He started his career as a dishwasher and worked his way up to a chef position as he attended culinary school in Iceland. Over the last 30 years he has worked at various restaurants in Reykjavik and in Denmark. In 2001 he opened The Deli in downtown Reykjavik, Iceland. The Deli is a gourmet trattoria,
 featuring regional Mediterranean cuisine as well as specialty pizzas and daily hot specials. He has his own herb garden and grows his own basil, mint, chili, parsley, sage and chives.
