Chef Toti grew up in a small town in the north-west part of Iceland called Hvammstangi. He knew from an early age that he wanted to become a chef. He was inspired by his grandmother and he made his first meal with her when he was just 7 years old. Grandma never had any formal chef training, but her food was truly great. Grandma´s kitchen was a great place to get a wonderful, home-cooked Icelandic country meal. I remember her kitchen as a place where magic happened and yielded wonderful smells and treats. Grandma always found a way to feed the whole family, she loved food and she passed the love of cooking to me.
Chef Toti graduated from Hótel- og veitingaskólinn, Kopavogur, Iceland in 2007. He started working at Hotel Loftleidir right after graduation and has since worked at various restaurants in the Reykjavik area including Austur Restaurant. He is currently a chef at Geysir Bistro, Reykjavik Iceland.
