Description

These are little toasts made from Italian baguettes that can be topped with just about anything you like. Crostinis are served as appetizers or tapas and you should estimate 3 to 5 per person. For best results crostinis should not be prepared much more than 2 hours before the party.


Ingredients

  •  As Needed Tomato Pesto

  •  As Needed Fresh Mozzarella

  •  As Needed Black Sesame seeds

  •  As Needed Cream cheese
  • 6
  •  As Needed Small shrimp
  • 7
  •  As Needed Peppers, red and yellow
  • 8

  •  As Needed Prosciutto

  •  As Needed Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

    Preparing the bread
    1. Start by slicing a good quality baguette into 1/2 inch or roughly 1 cm pieces and place on a cookie sheet.
    2. Place the cookie sheet and bake/toast for 10 minutes.
    3. Watch the bread carefully; as soon as you begin to see the bread turn brown remove from the oven.

    Mozzarella and Tomato Pesto Crostini

    1. Smear a thin layer of tomato Pesto on the toast.
    2. Cut thin slices of fresh Mozzarella and put on top of Pesto.
    3. Decorate with fresh parsley and black sesame seeds.
    Shrimp Crostini
    1. Smear a thin layer of cream cheese on the toast.
    2. Place 5 to 6 small shrimp on top of cream cheese
    3. Decorate with thinly sliced peppers and chives.
    Parma Crostini
    1. Smear a thin layer of cream cheese on the toast.
    2. Crumble a slice of prosciutto and place on top of cream cheese.
    3. Top with a dab of Pesto.
    4. Finish with a little bit of freshly grated parmesan cheese.

    Salami Crostini

    1. Smear a thin layer of cream cheese on the toast.
    2. Cut a thin slice of salami and put on top of cream cheese.
    3. Add a generous slice of Camembert cheese on top of salami.
    4. Garnish with finely chopped peppers.
