Lime Ice Cream with Green Chile Strips

Chef Johhny Vee shows you how to make fresh delicious lime ice cream.


  • 2  Cup(s) Heavy cream

  • 1  Cup(s) Milk
  • 2
  • 1/4  Cup(s) Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 3
  • 1/4  Cup(s) Key lime juice
  • 4
  • 1  Cup(s) Sugar
  • 5
  • 2  Each Lime zest
  • 6



    1. In a bowl zest 2 limes by rotating the lime around a micorplane.
    2. In a separate bowl mix the freshly squeezed lime juice and key lime juice.
    3. Next mix the remaining ingredients; heavy cream, milk and sugar with the lime zest.
    4. Then slowly add the lime juice mixture, make sure your ice cream maker bowl has been sitting in the freezer so it is ready to go.
    5. Start the machine and slowly add your mixture.
    6. Freeze ice cream mixture according to manufacturer’s instructions.
    7. Scoop the ice cream in a bowl, place the chile strips on top and enjoy!


    Green Chile Topping


  • 6 Each Green chiles, roasted, peeled, seeded & rinsed
  • 1/2 Cup(s) Sugar
  • 2 Table Spoon(s) Water
  • ¼ Tea Spoon(s) Salt
  • Directions

    1. Roast the green chile.
    2. Next peel, deseed and rinse.
    3. Cut the cooled green chile peppers into ¼ inch strips.
    4. Then place the chile strips, water, sugar and salt in a sauce pan on medium heat to candied, roughly 12 minutes. Be sure to stir the chiles occasionally.
    5. You know it is done when the liquid is a syrupy consistency.
    6. On a slightly oiled plate separate the chile strips and place in the refrigerator to chill.
