Description

The perfect cold weather recipe. Beef chili made with ground beef, kidney beans, tomato puree and hot sauce. Add your favorite toppings to make this recipe even better.


Ingredients

  • 4  Pound(s) Ground Beef
  • 1
  • 4  Cup(s) Onions, finely diced
  • 2
  • 4  Table Spoon(s) Garlic, minced
  • 3
  • 4  Cup(s) Tomato Puree
  • 4
  • 1/2  Cup(s) Tomato Paste
  • 5
  • 1  Quart(s) Beef Stock (plus more if needed)
  • 6
  • 2  Each Chipotle Peppers in Adobe Sauce (canned) chopped
  • 7
  • 2  Tea Spoon(s) Oregano, dried
  • 8
  • 1 ¼  Tea Spoon(s) Chili Powder
  • 9
  • ½  Tea Spoon(s) Cayenne Pepper
  • 10
  • 6  Table Spoon(s) Ground Cumin
  • 11
  • 2  Fluid ounce(s) Hot Sauce
  • 12
  • 1/4  Cup(s) Kidney Beans, cooked
  • 13
  •  As Needed Cheddar Cheese
  • 14
  •  As Needed Sour Cream

Directions

    1. Heat up a large pot on medium high heat
    2. Add meat and break up with a wooden spoon
    3. Cook meat until browned on all sides
    4. Once meat is fully cooked, remove from pot
    5. Add onions to pot and let cook out
    6. Once onions are almost translucent, add garlic
    7. Cook garlic until lightly colored, being careful not to brown
    8. Add tomato puree, mix and let cook out for a bit
    9. Scrape up brown bits from bottom of pan
    10. Add chipotle peppers, mix around
    11. Add oregano, chili powder, cayenne pepper and cumin
    12. mix thoroughly and let simmer for 30 minutes
    13. Add more beef stock if necessary
    14. Add hot sauce
    15. Let simmer again for 30 minutes
    16. Add kidney beans and simmer for another 30 minutes
    17. Taste and season if necessary
    18. Serve in a bowl topped with cheddar cheese and sour cream
