Description
A great homemade buttermilk biscuit recipe where even the buttermilk is made from scratch. They are nice and fluffy, your friends and family will love you for making these biscuits.
Ingredients
- 4 Cup(s) Flour
- 6 ⅓ Table Spoon(s) Baking Powder
- 1 ⅓ Table Spoon(s) Salt
- 1 Table Spoon(s) Sugar
- 2/3 Cup(s) Shortening
- 2 Cup(s) Buttermilk
- 1/4 Cup(s) Butter, unsalted, melted
- Pinch Salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- In a bowl whisk flour, baking powder, salt and sugar
- With your fingers, lightly crumble in shortening until the mixture is coarse
- Add buttermilk and with a fork mix until just moistened
- Turn out dough onto floured surface and roll to 1/2'' to 3/4'' creating a loose square shape
- Line two 1/2 sheet pans with parchment paper
- Cut into squares approximately 1-1/2'' x 1-1/2'' and place spaced evenly onto parchment lined pans
- Bake in oven for 18 minutes rotating pans at 9 minutes
- 2 Cup(s) Milk
- 2 Table Spoon(s) Vinegar
- Add ingredients together and let sit for 5 minutes
