Description

This is a easy and inexpensive dessert that every one will enjoy. Cubes of sweet bread in a delicious custard. Its creamy and crunchy all at the same time.


Ingredients

  • 1  Cup(s) Granulated Sugar
  • 1
  • 1  Each Large Stale Sliced White Bread - Diced
  • 2
  • 8  Each Large Eggs
  • 3
  • 2  Cup(s) Whole Milk
  • 4
  • 2  Cup(s) Heavy Cream
  • 5
  • 2  Cup(s) Granulated Sugar
  • 6
  • 4  Tea Spoon(s) Vanilla
  • 7
  • 6  Table Spoon(s) Butter - melted
  • 8

Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
    2. Take 1 cup sugar and add to saute pan and make caramel (See video).
    3. Once ready add to the bottom of the casserole dish.
    4. In large bowl add stale white bread.
    5. Add 1/2 whole milk and 1/2 heavy cream to bread.
    6. In a separate bowl add eggs, remaining milk and remaining heavy cream, sugar, vanilla and melted butter.
    7. Mix real well.
    8. Then combine bread and egg mixture and fold gently.
    9. Add to casserole dish.
    10. Bake for about 35 - 45 minutes.
    11. Using thermometer the temperature should be 160F degrees before removing from oven.
    12. Serve right away in casserole or serve cold.
    13. OR let cool in baking dish and cut and reheat and serve in individual portions.
