Chef Michael shows you how to make the best fried green tomatoes. Dredged in a buttermilk, corn meal batter then fried, a southern favorite.


  • 2  Each Green Tomatoes, sliced 1/4" thick
  • 1
  • 1/2  Pound(s) Cornmeal, seasoned with salt & pepper
  • 2
  • 1  Cup(s) Buttermilk
  • 3
  •  As Needed Neutral Oil, for frying
  • 4


    1. Soak tomatoes in buttermilk
    2. Remove from buttermilk and dredge in seasoned cornmeal
    3. Heat oil in pan
    4. Once oil is smoking hot, pan fry tomatoes until golden
    5. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil
