Description

Hanger steak marinated in a Chinese Oyster Sauce for 1 to 24 hours then served with Green Chili Mashed Potatoes


Ingredients

  • 3  Pound(s) Hanger Steak
  • 1
  • 1/4  Cup(s) Oyster Sauce
  • 2
  • 5  Table Spoon(s) Sherry Cooking Wine
  • 3
  • 1/2  Cup(s) Light Soy Sauce
  • 4
  • 1  Table Spoon(s) Olive Oil
  • 5
  • 3  Table Spoon(s) Garlic, minced
  • 6
  • ¼  Table Spoon(s) Szechuan Pepper
  • 7
  • 1  Pinch Salt
  • 8
  • 1 ½  Table Spoon(s) Brown Sugar, dark
  • 9
  • ¼  Tea Spoon(s) Black Pepper

  •  As Needed Green Chili Mashed Potatoes
  • 11
  • ½  Tea Spoon(s) Sesame Seeds, toasted

  • ½  Table Spoon(s) Green Onions, thinly sliced

Directions

    1. In a mixing bowl, add oyster sauce, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, Szechwan pepper, Salt, Black Pepper, Oil and Sherry wine
    2. Whisk all ingredients together
    3. Add the steak to the mixing bowl and marinade for at least 1 hour or up to 1 day
    4. When steak is done marinating, grill on each side
    5. Serve with Green Chili Mashed Potatoes and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and green onions

    Green Chili Mashed Potatoes

    Ingredients

  • 2 Pound(s) Idaho Potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 4 Table Spoon(s) Butter, softened
  • 5 Table Spoon(s) Heavy Cream
  • 4 Table Spoon(s) Sour Cream
  • 1 Each Anaheim Peppers, roasted, peeled and chopped
  • Directions

    1. Boil potatoes then strain, making sure all liquid is out
    2. Add potatoes to a large mixing bowl and add the butter, heavy cream, sour cream and green peppers
    3. Season with salt and pepper
    4. Mash ingredients until everything is combined but leaving it chunky
